We Tried the Medifast Diet – Does it Work?

There has been a litany of diets ever since people realized the side effects of being fat. Obesity is damaging to health. Excess weight needs to be carried around and it causes no benefits. Why would we not think about weight loss then? Losing weight does a lot of good to the self esteem too. It is not just about the external, it is internal too. Looking good boosts one’s confidence.

There are diets in the market that help people lose weight. In addition to working out, using these supplements assist one in losing weight fast or effectively. We only need a certain amount of calories but in our daily life, we mostly consume more than we need. This excess calorie troubles us in the form of fat.

Using the Medifast 5 & 1 Plan helps us consume only 800-1000 calories a day. There are several Medifast meal plans. The meals we consume should ideally contain a mix of protein, carbohydrate, vitamins and minerals. All of these should be proportioned carefully to provide us the required calories. However, in reality we aren’t so aware of what we put into our mouth. That is where such meal diets come into the picture. They were created with the calorie requirements in mind. They are scientific and hence have the advantage of being medically researched.

Each diet has its own features. It is important to stick to Medifast-made products and supplementing them with just one meat and veggies entrée each day. Since they are designed to keep you full for longer, you don’t consume unnecessary calories.

Medifast is nutritionally sound and measured to provide you with the required calories. So, you don’t need to count calories. But since you drop weight fast by reducing calories, it may be difficult for everyone to stick to.

Choose from a variety of options – bars, shakes, breakfast foods, soups, pastas, and sweet. Though our aim is to lose weight we still need to provide the nourishment. We need adequate protein and fibre to continue. You need to add one or two lean and green meals. You can also add a healthy snack to one of your meals.

The diet being in powdered form needs to be mixed with water. Medifast ranks #11 in Best Fast Weight-loss diets. There are 38 other diets evaluated.

Once you are close to your goal weight, wean off Medifast meal plans during transition and maintenance phases meant for your diet and gradually reacquaint yourself with your regular diet made of carbs and protein.

Medifast has different plans for diabetics, seniors, teens, vegetarians and nursing mothers or those with gout and other complications. They also have anti-oxidant loaded foods that will benefit you.

Their four week adult package costs $315.

Several studies conducted show that participants lose weight in fat mostly. Control groups lost weight under various test conditions. With all of that being said, it’s pretty obvious that Medifast is a great diet if you’re looking for a quick and easy way to lose weight. It’s also super convenient with the meal delivery system that they offer, AND they also have weight loss control centers in many metro areas that can help keep you on track, and keep you motivated. Of course there are other diets out there like Nutrisystem or Jenny Craig, so if you’re looking for other options both of those might be worth checking out as well. For now, Medifast definitely receives our endorsement!
